The game discussed on the old boards is still being planned and I still looking for Ideas. So far

  • The main user interface is a Desktop with ICons and a task bar.
  • The player will download new "sub apps" that will be in password protected zip files (password will be bought with money raised in the game.
  • There will be other hackers to watch out for. EG if you are hacking into a server and there is someone allready doing it you are exposed and can be easily hacked.
  • Viruses will be made with a very basic script designed by moi.

I need more ideas and would be more than willing to make it a group project. And most importantly I need a name for the game?

James

mozilla complies more to te w3c standards than ie, and unfortunately doesnt support a much javascript.

on sites which dont comply fully to the w3c html 4.01 transitional standards, mozilla uses a quirks mode, which attempts to emulate a buggy render of the page (inother words it tries to make it look like ie), but it isnt perfect.

i did email brian about a similar problem a few days ago, and support for more browsers may be added later on, but as he rightly stated, theres far more ie users than mozilla users, especially on a forum for windows programmers...

well id never encourage anyone to switch to ie, so i best mention some downsides lol...

the netscape rendering engine is slower than gecko,
ie is open to hijack scripts due to a poor bho installation 'feature',
ie doesnt comply very well to ANY w3c standard, so sites tested in it may not work on other browsers,
ie is virus-friendly (just like outlook infact... but i must admit to using outlook hehe).

obviously theres plenty more, but if i let my anti-microsoft side through i'll be here all night...
