I need to add the Microsoft Word 9.0 Object Library to the References in my new VB6 project.

Problem:  After I add it, I get a fatal error after typing:  "Dim x as ".  Note this is a totally new VB project with nothing else in it.

I cannot Dim anything.  As soon as I type the space in the above statement, the intellisense should appear, but instead I get the Vb6 message box stating:

"This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down ..."

This happens on more than one computer that I have tried.  Has anyone see this behavior before or have any ideas on how to troubleshoot?

Details:  My MS Word 9.0 Object Library ref points to: c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Msword9.olb.     Msword9.olb is Version:  9.0.2717 on both PC's w/this problem.  Both PC's are using VB6 Enterprise and both are on Windows 98 OS.  Upgrading is not an option at this point.

Thanks for any input!!

This error usually occurs when the Microsoft Word Object Library has become corrupt. Try replacing your msword9.olb.

Good luck.
