In the past I used msdxm.ocx as media player, but it won't work under windows 7

What media player can I use?

I need:

duration
current position

You will find the Windows Media Player in your Controls list. Using it in VB is not well documented but I did recently help someone with it, though it was the first time I've used it myself.

Hi Cdrive,

Thank you for making me look further than windowsmediaplayer1.currentmadia

Now I found :
WindowsMediaPlayer1.currentMedia.duration
WindowsMediaPlayer1.Controls.currentPosition

which will do the job

msdxm.ocx isn't Windows Media Player its Windows Media Component.

Open up your project and right-click on a blank area of the Toolbox and select Components or press Ctrl+T and browse down the list until you see Windows Media Player - wmp.dll, click Apply and OK. Wink

I've been programming with VB for 17 years. Started with VB4 16bit Pro, VB5 Pro, VB6 Pro/Enterprise and now VB3 Pro. But I'm no expert, I'm still learning.
