I did the same thing a few years ago with vb6. I started off with vb6 desktop application and ended up doing classic asp and later asp.net. In ASP I started with vb and later c#. I suggest ASP.NET. If your fluent in html php will be easier to use. In my experience, if you know programming techniques, the learning curve greatly shrinks in direct relation to your skill set. I'm not much fond of php although I do a small amount of coding in it with MySQL. The best coders know many languages. For what it's worth, I'm from the mid-atlantic region of the U.S. and see the majority of jobs requiring MS technologies. Good Luck
