I'm not sure whether I sould be asking this question but Is this forum built totally inhouse? or have you used another app like VBulletin?? I don't think it's VBulletin unless you have covered it up very well

James

Hi,

No, this was not taken from vBulletin. This forum software was designed purely in ASP.NET. As you may know, ASP.NET works with compiled code. We therefore purchased the forum with the source code which allows us to upgrade and customize it in any way we please.

Best regards,

I'm just glad you haven't jumped on the VBulletin Band wagon.

You've done a great job

We considered VBulletin, but then decided to go with an ASP.NET board since the rest of the site is ASP. Also, it seems that 90% of all boards on the net are vBulletin, so we thought it would be better to go with a fresh new look.

It was a good idea and like you say A1 is still distinguishable from all the other VB forums. When you upgrade the site is the layout going to be similar? was the upgrade as smooth for you as it seemed to be for us? I only noticed a couple of slight technical hitches but nothing drastic.

i always hate to see sites using pre-built code such as vbulletin, phpbb, network54, etc... and not customise anything. there's so many that do it, and the internet can really start to look repetitive after a while.

this one feels so fresh though, even if it was vbulletin i wouldn't care hehe.
