I don't know if this is the right place to place this but the other forums didn't seem right. We need a forum to discuss things like this.

I am getting ready to start a program that designs and print boxes. I want to show and rotate the box to see how it looks. I have thought of DirectX to do the 3D work but have had second thoughts. If the version of DirectX is not on the clients computer then I will have to ship DirectX on the CD.

Is this overkill or is there another another way to get a 3d view of the box?

Thanks in advance for any insight,

Wayne

I know enough to be dangerious.

It is hard to understand how a cemetery can raise its burial rates and blame it on the cost of living.

Just wondering why you've to ship the DirectX? It's free and all version of it can be downloaded at librariesites.

Hm, What about OpenGL then? It should make you able to create a 3D box without need of DirectX.

Time is an illusion perpetuated by the manufacturers of space.

Thanks for replying, Anasazi. Whether I added it to the CD or sent them to a site it is a large download for such a simple job. Does OpenGL come with the operating systems, win98, xp, etc?
