Proper Posting Rules

i don't think that posts need to be checked by a moderator before a users post can be actually posted because this going to take up a lot of the moderators time and can discourage new users which are needed.

Maybe you can try a few other methods such as create a way for users to report posts. Create moderators to moderate individual forums to share the workload.

anyways, i like the look of the new forum. especially the better load times. and the ability to jump to different sections.

Mark,

It's only the first three member posts that are checked before posting. We did this to prevent spamming.

I agree It's also a good way to monitor whats going on and whether a new user is wanting to Format/Disable Ctrl alt Del and all that.

Glad to see you being so active Brian

I like the new Forums, and I understand that you probably wanna take a rest from getting thema all set up, but i was just gonna say(if you have time), should make a small post in the annoucments forum, and should call it "how to make a proper post", that way, if a user is new, we dont have to put up with all this 1 line stuff. and then we could refer to it. but i understand if you would like to wait for that

This new forum does look nice.  I haven't played around with any of the fancy stuff yet -- that will have to wait for a day when I have more free time.

Proper posting rules can help us stay professional -- which most of us have been all along, anyway.

I'm especially glad to have the separate areas.  There will be some that I never visit, some that I frequently visit.

Rules rules rules.... Who needs rules? I guess most people do... lol It's a shame so many people don't seem to have any common sense or manners these days.

u would be surprised at the amount of people that posted at the old forums, with one line topics requesting code, or even full programs. we dont mind them asking for code, we dont mind giving out programs to specific people long as its just to help them, not to plagurize. i understand that some questions are only one line, thats ok, but the least they could do is say "hello" or "hey" and maybe introduce themselves if there new. then post there question, then say thank you. and if we manage to reply, they should be back again just to follow up on there post. which is why we have the email feature. even if they have the code they wanted alrdy, or figured out the problem, they should still follow up on it so we know, and then we know its all done.

To add to what booooze said. It is always worth following up your questions even if you've already fixed the problem you might find that someone has put up an answer that ultimately works out better. Also it is basic common courtesy to say thank you or at least aknowledge that what you have been given has helped you. The thing that really ticks me off is when a person will just copy their assignment brief onto the forums and then just sit back and wait for it to be done for them. They don't even attempt to post any code or even have a go at it themselves. Also people need to rethink titles. A few days ago on the forum there was a post entitled "?" This was not informative and should have had a more meaningful title. If you have a problem with a command button then say it in the title. And please don't put "this is an easy question but..." in the title. If it was easy you wouldn't be asking it.

Another thing to over come that could be present in the guidelines would be that this forum isn't just open to experts, you don't have to have made a particularly complicated program to qualify. I feel that sometimes people are embarrassed because they feel that their problem is easy and would be laughed at when this simply isn't true.

Posting guidelines are essential to the smooth running of this site.
