I can help on choosing a good book on C.

I've read C How to Program, A First Book of ANSI C, C for Dummies, C by Discovery, The C Programing Language, and Problem Solving and Program Design in C. I've read a few others, but those are the introductory books I have read on C. By far the best and most complete and easiest to understand is A First Book of ANSI C. C for Dummies is just goofy, bad programming practices in it. C How to Program is horrible IMHO, they try to pack C and C++ in one book...in one course, not happening. The C Programming Language is a little dated and doesn't conform to C99 standards, so skip it. Problem Solving and Program Design in C is a good book, my second favorite.
