hey guys, I've been working on a rpg game lately. It's a pretty simple a game, a guy moves around a .bmp and then uncounters enemies. Once the battle begins it goes into a seperate screen where a battle occurs (pokemon style). I just wanted to know if anyone could give me some hints/tips as what to add to my rpg. It seems rather boring making my character move around a bitmap and killing 5 guys before going to the next level. send an e-mail to  (ericbel_2@hotmail. com) and i'll send the code there. i don't want to add an attachment.

NPC's(Non-player characters) add a little excitement to any rpg. Also try to create a story line as the rpg unfolds.

Hey could I get a copy of your source code. I was wanting to start my own rpg and still trying to figure out character movement with the arrow keys and creating a map for the character to walk on. Can you email me a copy?

add an image to your form called image1 and use this code to move it using the arrow keys

as for the map if its only a small one then try drawing it in paint and change the form picture

For starting out It will just be a small map. How do i get my character to not walk through a wall? For the map do I create a .bmp file or can it be a .gif or jpg? Sorry for the dumb questions.

I'm basically trying to come up with something like nethack or the old apple game Wraith. Anyone know where i can get some sample code on doing a map and moving a character around on the map.

My suggestion is

1) for real rpg, need multi/single player version.

2) add some senario like yea talking and some random event

3) make char levels, like from lev 1 - 99, as xp gain, lev goes up
