I just found this the other day and they are talking about making a OS in C#. Is this reallty possible?

I looked at some of the screen shots that they have and its not bad and all but if its really true can you also code a GUI into it. I would like to create mu own OS but everywhere I look I need to know ASM which is really confusing and C++ which I'm trying to learn now.





Has anyone else ever heard about Cosmos?

Very interesting.  You can't build an OS solely using C#.  They are using a compiler IL2CPU which appears to be translating the C# code to asm..  So play around and let us know how it works!  IMHO, why re-invent the wheel!  Once you start writing hardware drivers, you'll see what I mean.  Pick up a copy of a openSource Linux/Unix distro...

No it wouldn't. Translating C# -> ASM is still making an OS in ASM, run away from the dirty C#.

Yeah, for all the other linux buffs.....I actually would recommend using Linux from Scratch. You want to be educated on how an operating system works, try that first. Crawl before you walk.

Except that you're crawling over hot lava and people are shooting at you. Really hard crawling.
