Yup, I am 16. My brother taught me the extreme basics of VB6 in a two-hour course on one boring summer day a year and a half ago (I have never had problems with logic, just needed a place to start with the syntax) and now I know about three times as much VB as he does, but he's off at a Technical Institute studying Computer Science, so he's still got a bit of a leg up on me. How old were you guys when you started programming?

Wow man, VB started about three years ago but I've been working with computer logic and basic languages like batch and the program builder on my TI calculator since I was about 10. Nothing was all that complex at that point but I learn quickly and I could follow examples and derive my own programs from them. At about 13 I started full out development of my own projects.

I have been at it for 30 years and got started in my early 30's in the early 70's.

The poll seems to be pretty even with a range of ages. Maybe I should have done a "how long have you been programing?"

Really? For as short a time as I've been doing VB, I am really desperate to get to different languages like JavaScript. VB is good for pretty much two things: buisiness apps and viruses. That's about it. Gaming has small boundaries with VB, and game dev. is where I really find my groove.

I like to make as few new topics as possible so I decided to tag this right on wayne's poll.

Has anyone ever dreamed about VB? I don't know if I have but I was just flippin out because last night I woke up saying the distinct words "SQL statement". I don't know if that's abnormal but I wondered if anything like that happened for anyone else.

omfg... yeah.. but i dream of more than that.. video games and programming or the queue light on the phones where i work.  in fact, i wrote about this here once.. about how i am so immersed in programming and get so little sleep at night cuz of it.. that when i wake up by my alarm, i am so groggy that i try to write a quick program in my head to set the alarm clock to Nothing so it will go off.  scary stuff.. but humorous in retrospect

Oh yeah, I mean, I was surprised that I said that specifically. Usually when I do dream of programming, it's of the math part of it. Math and programming is what I love to do since gaming, especially gaming in a 3D or even flat environment, requires a lot of math. So usually I think so much of it that the stuff carries over to my subconscious.

Dude, I'm only 17. I've been programming for like 2 years now.
