Verizon "Pop-up"

Arrrgh...

Have the guys at A1VB sold out to the man?  It seems so having witnessed one of the most annoying pop-ups I have ever seen.  A Verizon ad superimposes itself on my web browser on every screen I go to.  I can't escape it.  It's right there in my face, it can't even be moved, and it's in the way.  It's like having junkmail stapled to your hand.  It's like telemarketer calls coming through your phone on speaker with auto-answer turned on and the volume turned up while tied to a chair at 4:00am when you have to get up at 7:00am to go to work.

I know this site is free and many of us receive help from this free service, but it's also a nice site in general.  Don't destroy its quality with you-will-read-this-ad-and-like-it-and-there's-nothing-you-can-do-to-avoid-it pop-ups.

I've always noticed a simple banner, ya know.

Ok, it appears that the ad in question is a new form of advertising called "Floating ads", where a large window slides down beneath the banner. Usually this requires the user to perform some action, such as draw their mouse over the ad before it drops down. In this case however it appears that it drops down automatically. I cannot personally verify this because the ad is targeting U.S only visitors and we're in Canada. Verizon is running a number of different ads including this floating ad. Since we cannot specifically block this one ad we had no choice but to block all Verizon ads.

I'm pretty sure you've seen the last of it.
