As more and more newbies are coming to A1VBCode, this site needs to add more Closed Threads. Those "closed threads" should contain basic Visual Basic Functions like file opening and saving, listbox manipulations, string manipulations, date-time functions etc., etc. This will help keep the forum clean.

Yep, can't agree more. Just too bad that many newbies registers and asks 1 question, after that they'll probably forget the link to the forum and never comes back. End of story, how sad

Hi,

All of those basic functions are available and can be downloaded from the site. It's unfortunate that some people post to the forum before searching either the main site or the forum.

Well, then I think you should provide links to the basic functions through Stickies. Closed threads (stickies) should/will attract new users.

The sad fact of the matter is that most people come to this site with a single minded purpose to get an answer, and they're too conditoned to register, post, and walk away. I mean, look at the members! Only the top 3 out of 284 pages of members have more than 50! I think more stickies is a good idea, but I agree with Peter because there isn't much more to be done to stop it.

It would be nice though, maybe not allowing users to post messages until they've completed a basic online VB course complete with a quiz.....

Hahaha... Forum section of A1VBCode is already sinking. If you have some kind of quiz then it'll have to be closed down very soon. Matter of fact, quiz or no quiz, this forum will not last long.

Whenever I search in google about VB this site never shows up in the search result, not even once I have seen A1VBCode forum. That's a sad fact

I know this topic was started a couple of years ago but if you do a google search for "visual basic" +forum this forum is on the second page fourth link down.

I think the suggestion for new users to complete a quiz before they can ask anything isn't really on. They will think its a load of hassle just to ask a question when there are better VB forums on the web which the search will show.

We have exactly the same problem on my forum. New users ask a question and you don't see them again after its been answered. That just the way people work, they want something for nothing and don't support the source.

The other thing users don't realize about this site, it has completed applications that you can download here

I've been programming with VB for 15 years. Started with VB4 16bit Pro, VB5 Pro, VB6 Pro/Enterprise and now VB3 Pro. But I'm no expert, I'm still learning.

This is mainly a code site anyways. Search Google and Yahoo for "vb code" and they're #2".
